Lake Titicaca is the “highest navigable lake” in the world and it’s the largest lake of South America. Lake Titicaca has a surface elevation of 3,812 m. The lake is situated on the border between Bolivia and Peru.
Yesterday we booked a boat for a trip on the lake to visit some islands and also an island made of reed 🤔.
Early in the morning we head off to the small harbor. The captain is already waiting for us. We first go to a normal island to hike to the top of the mountain. The views on Lake Titicaca are spectacular.
Around noon we go to a small island made of reed. 4 families live on the island. They tell … in Spanish … a little bit about their history. They also explain how they built the reed island and what they do for a living. It’s pretty cool 😁.
